Niantic Park Playground Community Build
In collaboration with the Oak Bluffs Parks and Recreation Department and the Friends of Oak Bluffs, the Niantic Park Playground Project committee create a community-built playground in Niantic Park which included play equipment, walkways, and landscaping to best serve the children.
The Community Preservation Act, or CPA, funding designated $46,000 for the playground equipment and ground cover to improve the current conditions of the playground. Unfortunately, this would only replace the existing equipment, but the Niantic Park Playground Project had bigger dreams.
The Island community immediately responded by generously donating funds and materials to the fundraising campaign. This new plan creates a safe, engaging Niantic Park Playground that will be fully accessible for all members of the community. It incorporates play equipment into its historic neighborhood that aesthetically reflects the character and charm of Oak Bluffs.
Herrick & White has joined forces with the community volunteers and has supported the efforts to bring the Park project construction to fruition so that many happy children and families can enjoy the park.
